In return for providing financial support for her family Grace has agreed to marry Sir Harcourt. 

Harcourt's son Charles also falls in love with Grace at a party held at her father's home. When his father appears, Charles has to convince him there's been a case of mistaken identity and he is actually somebody else.

Then a married woman visiting the house, Lady Gay Spanker, is talked into seducing his father by Charles to take his attention away from Grace.

Cue much scheming and confusion!
