Welcome to Sudbury Dramatic Society!

Known more simply as ‘SDS,’ we’re a lively and vibrant amateur theatre group putting on a varied selection of productions each year consisting usually of five plays and a pantomime - and we reached our centenary in 2021.

We’ve built a strong reputation for putting on a variety of top quality productions over the years covering many genres and look forward to many more. We’d be delighted if you joined us as we’re always keen to welcome new people both on and off stage.

Excellent facilities and a social side

For the past near four decades we’ve been based at the characterful Quay Theatre, so we’re fortunate to have access to excellent performing and rehearsing facilities including the latest in modern lighting and sound equipment, a well stocked costume department, and a convivial bar area for relaxing after rehearsals, performances and other social occasions.

Along with putting on productions, we run various social events such as our fabled Oscars-style (though very tongue in cheek!) Gus Awards; workshop sessions usually free for members; outings to other theatres and events; drinks gatherings (usually teh last Sunday lunctime each month) and much more.
